The piercing crescendo of Michiru's voice makes Haruka's face pinch, before her expression falls slack with surprise. Though the lack of reaction -- any reaction at all -- had been threatening to drive her mad, she's unprepared for when she actually gets it. Even the twisting dark mass of emotion in her stomach is knocked off its hinges, for a moment.

But frustration quickly finds its footing again-- "How is it ridiculous?! It's what we've been doing up until now!"

Then followed, quiet and bitter, by betrayal:

"It's what you had me believe we've been doing up until now."
